Project Summary: A collection of carefully crafted edits aimed to evoke a sense of nostalgia while illuminating the multifaceted life and enduring legacy of Zora Neale Hurston. The proposal straightforwardly conveyed a desire to create a cohesive branded aesthetic that can be applied across platforms and "photo collage of Zora Neale Hurston" and to adapt the intro/outro editing style to emulate the interview series. This vision was realized by overlaying various photographic elements from Zora's life, incorporating motion graphic textures such as grain and film spots/burns, color grading sourced archive photos to achieve variation in B&W tones, and incorporating harmonious musical accompaniments to create seamless transition between photo collages. Additionally, a bespoke 2D animation of Hurston’s signature was created bringing her handwriting to life. I've applied my knowledge of video editing to optimize retention and engagement while preserving the integrity of the story, message, and knowledge being shared. This is achieved by infusing the edit with supportive interactive on-screen motion graphics without compromising the message's integrity.
